Give this a try. Next time you see him smiling while the two of you are talking quickly change the topic by asking him if you should date some guy. Name a particular guy, but it doesn't matter who. ie: "Should I date Joe?".

Now it doesn't matter what his answer is, it won't tell you anything. Any friend will smile when they respond to you, but if Jacob has a romantic interest in you, his smile will fade for the few moments between when you ask the question and he responds. If the smile never leaves his face, turn you attention to other guys.

I know how you feel. ive had this bestfriend for 16 yrs now. ive thought bout us dating for along time but yet didnt think he had the same feelings. i got the courage be so.. y havent we ever dated? We both decided well we r afraid of ruining a friendship. But i truly think its worth a try. if uve known eachother for so long your going to know everything bout eachother. dont ever be scared. if u flake out on things in life u will Never know what yur missing out on. lifes all about change and taking risks. dont hide behind a door your whole life. I say gain the confidence and courage and tell him how u truly feel. you might miss out on a great oppurtunity
