ok, dude......just break up with them. I am a 22 year old female. and there is no way to "break it off gently". If you break it off gently, they either think you might get back together, or they don't take the break up seriously, or they hang around you all the time any way afterwards and it's like you never broke up. You need to clearly state to their faces that you don't want to be with them anymore. That doesn't mean that you have to be mean, but just sit down with them and tell them that you are sorry but it isn't working out. You aren't happy in the relationship and that it's not necessarily their fault, you just don't see it going anywhere. Be prepared for crying and pleading and begging and guilt trips...you will get all of the above, plus probably some accusations, but there is no reason to lie...if you don't want to be with her, just say so. Deal with the crying and stuff, and stay firm on the fact that you don't want to be together. She will be upset, but she will get over it eventually, and there won't be any messy backlash because of fault communication .
