I salute you that you did not give in to the pressures to keeping your baby. I don't think you were selfish, I bet you took a good at your life and concluded that you weren't mature enough to have a child. What they show you on TV is that EVERYBODY keeps the baby and is SOOOOOO happy, but what they don't show you on TV, are the countless number of childeren that have very bad lives because their moms are way too young or immature. Ask yourself this question: What's more likely, that single mom families with a mother aged 14-22 years old are overwhelmingly happy, with below average crime rate, above average education, income, or, that these kinda families produce kids that are more than average high-school dropouts, criminal etc etc?
Believe me, it's the latter. Or don't believe me, go to the US census site, and check the figures for crime etc. It will show you that ever since abortion became available for poor, underpriviliged mothers, crime rates were dropping and are dropping still.

So, I don't think, I KNOW you weren't selfish. After all, it ain't rocket science: who can take better care for a baby, a single mom with no education or two people with 2 steady incomes?

I dont like the idea of abortions unless there is a present danger to the life of the mother or some other medical condition to inhibit it, but you made the decision there is no sence in brooding about the past, just think next time before u have sex, and if u concive again, think on what that tiny baby in u might do for the world. I am not religious, but i saw a comic about a priest asking GOD why he hadn't sent cures for world hunger AIDs (and alot of other world problems,) and he said "I did, you aborted them." I think that instead of killing your own child for your own irresponsible actions, the least you could have done was to put the baby up for adoption. That was something that was selfish and you did not give it enough thought. People lets stop being so self-centered and start thinking about others not just ourselves!!!! I had my little girl when I was just 16, but I got married so that made it easier and I am so happy with my family. My friend had her baby at the age of 17 and she is single and she is doing just fine. Now you will never get to know what would have happened with you and your child. You did the right thing. If you HAVE to ask gods forgiveness, he'll give it to you that is what he does, as long as you ask. You made a mistake and got pregnant, but struggling for the rest of your life trying to raise a baby you should'nt have had is no way for you to live OR your baby. True there is a 1 in several billion chance that the child you terminated could have been some terrific extraordinary human being, but I think if you look at the statistics about children of single mothers chances are you made the right choice (and now YOU have a chance to dedicate yourself to that end). It could not have been an easy decision, but it was right. Don't let anyone that calls them selves a Christian judge you they should know that is NOT their job, and if they have the gall to do so then you should know they are clearly not what they claim. All these people say you should have had the baby and given it up for adoption, well its not that cut and dried in the real world, once a baby is there you would want to keep it and even if you were strong enough to give your baby up these assholes that want to enrich other peoples lives don't consider how the child may feel at being given up for adoption. People are rigourously vetted but there are still perverts out there that adopt,foster etc
I don't tend to agree with abortion i think its better to prevent pregnacy in the first place, but whats done is done and you did the right thing for you , theres no honour in keeping a baby and screwing up your life and potentially your childs.
